Hello World

In my past life, I was a software developer. I have about 25 years of experience, and I spent most of my career at JetBrains, where I was involved in the creation of PyCharm and Kotlin, among other cool projects.

In the summer of 2023, I’ve made a decision to quit my job and my software development career, and to fully dedicate myself to my other life-long passion: the study of languages.

My current plan is to spend a year on self-study, linguistics-related open source work and rest, and to start a masters program in Indo-European studies at the University of Leiden in September 2024. Will this work out? We’ll see.

This blog is going to be a chronicle of my journey. Expect an assortment of study and research notes, random linguistic facts, a progress log for my open-source work, and other content along those lines. I hope it’ll be fun.
